Navratri is a Hindu festival that happens over nine days and is celebrated during the autumn season every year. It is very similar to Durga Puja in a lot of ways and most of the traditions that are followed in the two festivals are also more or less same. Navratri is celebrated in states like West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu. It is also popular in many foreign countries. Goddess Durga is worshipped during Navratri and many people fast during this time and offer prayers to the Gods and Goddesses.
The nine days of Navratri are considered the most auspicious nice days in the lunar calendar in the Hinduism religion. This festival is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm all over India and in many parts of the world. Various ceremonies are performed during these nine days which include Fasting, dancing and various rituals. Navratri translates to nine nights in Hindi. People in Gujarat famously play Dandiya and Garba during these nine days at night and have a lot of fun with their group gatherings and festivities. Different forms of Goddess Durga is worshipped during this time similarly to Durga Puja in West Bengal.
