15th of August is a red-letter day in Indian History. It was on this day, that we Indians were finally declared as free from several years of British Rule. Since then this day is considered a very important day and it is considered a National Holiday and is celebrated as Independence Day every year. We celebrated this day with great zeal and pride every year. Schools especially celebrate this day with great joy and pomp and very big preparations are done for a huge festival. All offices, schools and workplaces are closed on this day because it is a National Holiday.
Most schools celebrate Independence Day and great care is taken to educate the children about it. Most children go to school early on this day and celebrations are held like, school parades, singing of patriotic songs and dancing. The National flag is hoisted and all children and people present salute it and show their respect towards it. The National Anthem “Jana Gana Mana” is also sung after hoisting the National Flag.
